James is a partner at City law firm Howard Kennedy LLP. As well as advising on a broad range of company, commercial and corporate finance transactions, James advises a number of charities and non-profit organisations on a pro bono basis.
James served as a reservist in 4 PARA and whilst a partner at his previous law firm Reed Smith he completed two operational tours with The Parachute Regiment in Iraq (2004) and Afghanistan (2008).
As a private soldier, the media ops team in Afghanistan were keen to run an article on James in a national newspaper but promptly scrapped it when they discovered the MOD was still paying his law firm wages.
