Everest 100 Day 06

08 May 2022

A great day. Testing and prep’ing my oxygen set and climbing in the Khumbu Icefall with the legend Da Jangbu Sherpa (13 Everest summits). My previous experience of Everest was from the Tibetan side which has nothing like this! Perhaps the most famous and feared section of the climb from Nepal is the Khumbu Icefall. Having read all the books and hiked high yesterday to get a good look at it I was full of trepidation. But, in words familiar to every military parachutist: ‘Knowledge dispels fear’. I recognise the objective danger, but I’m much more at ease with climbing through the icefall after today. To get an idea of scale see if you can pick out the climbers in the pictures. The next time I climb through the icefall will be at night
