Following a short acclimatisation hike today, tomorrow sees my first exploratory foray into the Khumbu Icefall. The icefall is a maze of fixed lines, ladders and abseils through constantly shifting glacial terrain. It’s certainly not for the faint hearted. Starting just above Base Camp at around 5350m it tops out close to Camp 1 at just over 6000m.
