Air Focus Group Lunch 2021

Our Chairman, Air Vice-Marshal Nick Kurth, attended an Air Focus Group (AFG) lunch at the RAF Club last week. Earlier in the year the AFG made a generous donation to The Ulysses Trust to support an Air Cadet expedition undertaken by 282 (East Ham) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets in Snowdonia – Ex: Summit Adventure 2021.

Following the successful completion of the expedition, the AFG invited our Chairman and two of its participants to attend a luncheon, Cadet Flight Sergeant Kyle Ravi and Pilot Officer Michael Shirley RAFAC, the expedition’s Officer in Charge.

Also in attendance was Air Marshal Andy Turner, the RAF’s Air Member for Personnel and Capability who joined Kyle, Michael and Nick at the AFG President’s table.
During the proceedings, Kyle gave a short presentation about the expedition experience and how it benefitted him as a participant as well as the impact on the unit and the wider benefits to society.

AVM Nick Kurth commented, “Cadet FS Kyle Ravi’s pitch on the 282 expedition went down very well with the AFG members. He demonstrated, in great style, to the AFG members, what was achieved with their donation.

“There is little doubt that Kyle did a great job in putting over the key points. I am not sure that there are many 17 year olds who would have measured up in a similar, very positive manner. I was also delighted that Kyle had an opportunity to chat to Air Marshal Andy Turner.

“The members of the AFG were very positive about the work of The Ulysses Trust and the Charity received numerous mentions. All told, it was a very useful occasion.”
The AFG luncheon took place on 2 December 2021 at the RAF Club at 128 Piccadilly, London, W1J 7PY.

The Ulysses Trust wish to thank the generosity of the Aviation Focus Group for supporting this expedition and for inviting us to attend this event.
