Barnsley Sea Cadets Boating 2024

In a recent journey packed with excitement, growth, and friendship, Barnsley Sea Cadets took 40 young people from Barnsley Sea Cadets on an unforgettable adventure camp at Kingswood, thanks to the generous support of the Ulysses Trust (ID 3247). This camp experience provided these young cadets with a chance to immerse themselves in thrilling outdoor activities, push their limits, and create lasting bonds, all while learning valuable skills that will serve them for years to come.

During their stay at Kingswood, the cadets participated in activities including kayaking, water rafting, archery, and a variety of team-building exercises. For many of the cadets, this was their first opportunity to try some of these challenging activities, and each one provided unique opportunities to learn and grow. The picturesque and adventure-filled environment of Kingswood encouraged the cadets to step outside their comfort zones, promoting a sense of achievement, resilience, and camaraderie.

Commanding Officer Nuttall shared his pride in the cadets, saying,

“This trip was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. It was wonderful to see the cadets supporting each other, pushing their boundaries, and building the skills that will benefit them both in and out of the water. We are very proud of their achievements.”

One cadet, Able Cadet W, reflected on how the experience has impacted his personal growth and goals within the Sea Cadets.

“The trip has helped me with my confidence. I am looking to apply for my leading cadet board in a few months, and being able to lead my peers through a team-building exercise was brilliant. I feel ready to make my next move in my cadet career.”

His story is a testament to the camp’s positive influence, showcasing how such experiences can prepare cadets for greater responsibilities.
